Emergency Response Software
ArcGIS is an enterprise Geographic Information System software suite developed and maintained by esri. Using ArcGIS and a Wacom pen display, a Crisis Command center can ensure consistent sharing of real-time information throughout a distributed response team. The DTU-2231 interface is the ideal tool for developing and sharing response plans by working just like you would on a large, paper map. ArcGIS provides a visual dashboard with all of your pre-formatted GIS datasets and the Wacom DTU-2231 provides a digital canvas for the from the command center are shared in real-time to field resources because ArcGIS publishes the commander’s updates to team members on laptops, smartphones and tablets.
Next-generation Incident Management System (NICS)
NICS is an open, non-proprietary, distributed, scalable, web-based situational awareness system for First Responders. Using NICS and a Wacom DTU-2231 pen display provides an incident commander with an extremely simple mechanism to communicate ongoing emergency response plans to a distributed team of responders. The NICS interface integrates seamlessly with the Wacom interactive pen display so that there is virtually no learning curve or training required. The incident commander can simply draw plan elements and annotate instructions and comments by writing directly on the surface of the pen display’s screen just like writing on paper. Because the NICS supports any browser on any device, the entire response team can work from a common operating picture as directed by the central command. Comments and updates can be pushed from the field to the commander and these updates can be assimilated into the iterative plan. The workflow for the incident commander is identical to working on paper or a whiteboard, but augmented by the fact that plan elements are digital and updated to the team in real-time. NICS is developed by MIT Lincoln Laboratory (MIT LL), in partnership with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and other First Responders, under the sponsorship of the Department of Homeland Security Science & Technology Directorate (DHS S&T). NICS requires users to register in order to gain access to the online software system.
Open Sankoré is a free, multiplatform, open-source program that is compatible with any browser on any OS and integrates seamlessly with Wacom’s interactive pen displays. For the emergency response team, Open Sankore provides a fast and intuitive platform for planning, communicating and collaborating with your team. By combining the Open Sankore software platform with the Wacom DTU-2231 interactive pen display and emergency response team immediately establishes a digital workflow for communicating and collaborating on situational awareness with all of the ease and simplicity of a traditional whiteboarding experience. Crisis commanders can plan, manage and adjust the use of field resources simply by drawing and annotating on a digital whiteboard. The plan is communicated in real-time to the entire team, and information in the plan can be broadcast to any browser for viewing on tablets, phones and computers.
Because Wacom integrates seamlessly with any software on virtually any OS, Google Earth provides a familiar software environment for an incident management team to utilize in developing and sharing situational awareness data. Use Google Earth to draw paths and polygons to represent existing and planned movement of people and resources utilized on your incident response team. By using a Wacom interactive pen display like the DTU-2231 your incident commander can draw and annotate the crisis response directly on the surface of an LCD display, just like writing these plans and instructions on a paper map or whiteboard.
Petrel (for Windows) and GeoFrame (for Linux) are seismic interpretation software solutions that allow the petroleum geologist to analyze stratigraphy and structure of 2D and 3D seismic surveys. When these software products are integrated with Wacom’s interactive pen displays the interpretation workflow is simplified for the interpreter because you can now identify and digitize subsurface features by drawing them directly on the surface of the Wacom LCD. Integrating Schlumberger’s software with Wacom’s input devices provides a comfortable method for delineating features and improves performance by speeding up the seismic interpretation workflow.
Insight Earth combines automated and manual seismic interpretation techniques to improve speed and accuracy of data analysis for the petroleum geologist. Speed, comfort and accuracy are further enhanced when Insight Earth’s Surface Wrapping and Draping workflows are integrated with Wacom’s pen displays. Wacom’s pen displays support quick adjustments of subsurface boundary analysis and identification with a workflow similar to sketching or painting on paper. This natural sketch-based workflow speeds the data analysis and improves comfort for the geologist, resulting in faster data cycles and improved productivity.
dGB Earth Sciences developed Horizon Cube software as a plug-in to OpendTect seismic interpretation software. By integrating Wacom’s pen displays with OpendTect, dGB has provided the tools to analyze stratigraphy and structure with greater speed and accuracy when compared to traditional interpretation workflows. Wacom’s interactive pen displays allow the geologist to modify and improve the results of automated interpretation. With the Wacom pen display, the interpreter can simply draw new subsurface features or modify the shape of existing features identified during automated processing. Petrosys provides a robust suite for 2D and 3D mapping and analysis of geologic data. Contouring in Petrosys with a Wacom pen display mimics the experience of drawing on paper while generating valuable digital geologic datasets.
